The Bible and Raw Food
Ever wonder if the raw food diet is some sort of modern day fad diet? I did and I started doing some research on it and I thought I would at least share my opinion.
First let me say that I believe in God. If you don’t…ok. I will not tell you why I think you should or get preachy on you. Even if you don’t believe in God but think there is some validity to the Bible as a history book then I encourage you to at least read on.
The book of Genesis starts off by telling us the story of man…where we came from and what we ate. In Genesis 1: 29-30 God gives some pretty direct instructions on what to eat:
29 Then God said, “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. 30 And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air and all the creatures that move on the ground—everything that has the breath of life in it—I give every green plant for food.” And it was so.
The world exists for about 1600 years before the world is flooded and Noah builds his ark.
People of the earth at this time live an incredibly long time…almost 1000 years in some cases. Ever heard of Methuselah? He and others lived a much long life before the flood and I believe followed the instruction handed out in Genesis 1.
Soon thereafter the flood hit and wiped out all living things on the earth. After it was over God also gave instruction on what to eat. In Genesis 9: 3-4 he said:
3 Everything that lives and moves will be food for you. Just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything. 4 “But you must not eat meat that has its lifeblood still in it.
So lets recap where we are at this point: Man created, told to eat greens of the earth as food, people lived a crazy long time, flood happens and every living thing on the earth (including plants) was destroyed, waters recede and God gave new instructions on food.
Following me so far?
So my hunch is that we were raw vegans for the first 1600 years of our existence. Why do I think raw? Well if you look at the Genesis 9:4 God tells man that they can eat meat but not if it has blood in it. How do you get rid of blood? Cook it out. I am not sure it even occurred to people to cook food at first. Why would it?
So after that man started cooking all their food and we got to where we are today. Why did God say it was ok to eat meat then? Well first…I am not going to judge God but I can tell you what I think makes sense.
1. Maybe it was supposed to be a temporary approval. Since everything was wiped out maybe that is what they had to have.
2. Maybe God saw that people were living entirely too long and that was causing problem (maybe the reason the flood was needed) and this was a way to control the population size.
3. Maybe he saw the same for the animal kingdom…too many animals.
Regardless I don’t know why but I believe that for the first millennium and a half or so humans were vegetarians, most likely vegans and probably raw vegans. I think that goes to show that the raw food diet is not some fad that will pass but in fact it is where we all started.

What does the Bible have to say about a Raw Food Diet?

I have had this belief and I have mentioned it to people but they thought i was crazy. but maybe we shall find out. every culture has some sort of story that matches this even voodoo. see the movie bitter sugar if you want a small reference. after the flood our lives where cut short and it was probably through food
Interesting stuff huh?
