Hi, my name is Hunter Ingram and a year ago I was about 300 pounds. One morning in July of 2009 I woke up and realized that something had to change. I could not keep living the way I was for much longer. I decided that like the countless times before I was going to go on a diet and start working out. Well…neither one of those things has happened yet (although I am trying to get my butt to the gym) and today my health has taken a one hundred and eighty degree turn for the better.

Me...May 2009

That morning in early July I had the bright idea that maybe “dieting” would be easier if tried being vegetarian for a day or two. Which is kinda funny because I hated vegetables (especially anything green), I didn’t care too much for fruit and pepperoni pizza was my vice of choice. Anyway, I started doing research on being a vegetarian and ran across some health benefits for vegans as well. For those that don’t know (I didn’t) a vegetarian doesn’t eat meat and a vegan doesn’t eat meat or anything derived from animal products i.e. cheese, eggs or diary.

I found a study (I wish I could find the link to share) that basically said that vegans live fifteen years longer than that of the average man. WOW! Fifteen years seems like a really long time and so I was intrigued and down the rabbit hole I went to learn all I could.

Basically here is what I came up with…vegans might or might not live that much longer but what I can tell you is they are happier, healthier, weigh less and have less medical conditions than than non vegans. So I basically had a Matrix moment where I asked myself which pill I wanted. The red pill…eat whatever I want, whenever I want but having health issues, weight problems and a good probability that I would die much sooner than I was ready. Or the blue pill…eat food that not only tastes great but that is great for me and have less health issues, no weight problems and live much longer. To me it was an easy choice.

Long story short I made the decision to go vegan and did even more research and that is where I first heard about eating raw. Eating raw is basically where you go back to where we started before corn syrup, fast food and microwaves and look at food as simply that. Eat the things that the earth gives us in their purest possible form. The body can take that fuel and actually use it. When your body is operating like a well oiled machine fat basically falls off of you. So in about six months with no exercise I went from the picture above to this:

Me...after 6 months of a raw food diet.

This blog will be my attempt to share with the world my journey and my story of success on the raw food diet. If I can be successful without any sort of pill, book, frozen meal or exercise plan I know you can too. Lets get started.
